HOW TO ENTER
The Helping Heroes Contest will begin on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 and end on Sunday, December 9, 2012.
To participate in the contest, you may enter via the following method(s): Go to www.kasa.com, click on the Contests tab, click on Helping Heroes and upload an essay describing why the serviceperson you are nominating deserves/needs a roof replacement. All entries must be received no later than 11:59 pm on Sunday, November 25, 2012. Copyrighted, illegal, inappropriate or scandalous content is prohibited. All essays are subject to review before posting.
The Station is not responsible for Internet transmission errors, illegible entries, service outages, delays, busy signals, equipment malfunctions and any other technological difficulties that may prevent transmitting his/her entry.
One entry per person.
All submissions are final.
ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS
The contest is open to all KASA, KRQE, KBIM, KREZ viewers who are 18 years of age or older and who legally reside in New Mexico. Employees of KASA, KRQE, KBIM, KREZ] (the “Station”), its licensee, its corporate parents, subsidiaries, and affiliates, its advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, other television stations in the New Mexico area and the members of their immediate families or households are ineligible to participate or win. Subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited.
Only one winner per household is permitted in any Station contest in a calendar year.
Nominee must be active duty or retired United States Military member who has served honorably and resides in New Mexico.
Entrant must have written permission from the nominee before entering the contest.
PRIZES
One (1) winner will be the recipient of a gift certificate for $15,000 for a roof replacement from BAC Enterprises.
There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes, except that the Station may, at its sole discretion, substitute prizes of comparable value or cash. The prizes are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses. If winner wants to change items from the stated prizes, they will do so at their own expense and with the understanding that the changes may cause a delay in construction. Other restrictions may apply.
WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION
The individual who submits an essay on behalf of a nominee is not eligible to win.
The nominee must acknowledge and sign forms before eligible to win the contest.
The selection of a winner from the nominated essay entries will be a two step process. Viewer voting will determine three (3) finalists from the essays submitted and the judge’s will determine a winner from the three (3) finalists.
Step one: viewer voting will determine three (3) nominees (finalists) from the essays submitted. Voting will begin on Monday, November 26, 2012 and end on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 11:59 pm. The three (3) nominees selected as finalists will proceed to Step two.
Step two: the three (3) finalist’s essays will be reviewed by a panel of judges to include BAC Enterprises, active and/or retired military personnel. The judge’s will select the contest winner.
The criteria for selection are the need of the service person and the essay’s ability to clearly communicate the need.
The winner will be determined upon completion of the judge’s review of the three finalist’s essays. The winner will be announced live on New Mexico Style (KASA) between 8:00 am and 9:00 am the week of December 17, 2012. The remaining finalists will become alternates accordingly if the prize winner is unable to fulfill the requirements of the contest.
Winners must execute and return any required affidavit of eligibility and/or liability/publicity release within 48 hours of notification attempt or prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be chosen by the sponsor. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to sign and return the required affidavit of eligibility and/or liability/publicity release within the required time period, or if a prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, potential winner forfeits prize.
CONDITIONS
Payments of all federal, state and local taxes are solely the responsibility of the winners. Winners may be required to sign an IRS Form W-9 or the equivalent.
By participating in the contest, participants agree to have their name, voice, or likeness, and that of their submitted materials, used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without additional financial or other compensation, and, where legal, to sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to acceptance of the prize.
Prior to awarding any prize or prize certificate, the Station in its sole discretion may require contest winners (and their travel companions, if any) to sign a liability release, agreeing to hold the Station, its corporate licensee, its parent, subsidiary and affiliated corporations, and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the contest.
The Station reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, including the substitution of a prize or equivalent value, which will become effective upon announcement.
Failure to comply with the contest rules or the Station’s website Terms of Service may result in an entrant’s disqualification solely at the discretion of the Station.
The Station is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest, or in the announcement of a prize.
Copies of the written contest rules and a list of winners (when complete) are available during regular business hours at the main studio of KRQE, 13 Broadcast Plaza SW, Albuquerque, NM 87104.
